VILLAGE OF BROADVIEW MAYOR’S OFFICE

The Mayor, also referred to as the Village President, directs the day-to-day operations of the Village. The various departments within the Village report to the President, who in turn reports to the Board of Trustees.

Mayor Sherman Jones

A resident of Broadview since 1962, Illinois native Sherman Jones is a fixture in our community.  Graduating from Roosevelt Grammar School and later attending Proviso East High School, Sherman made many friends in the Proviso Township area and continues to interact and communicate with them today.  As a National Merit Scholar, Sherman received numerous Academic Scholarship offers to attend Ivy League Colleges as well as other prominent institutions across the nation.  Sherman's parents instilled the virtues of hard work, education, faith, family and community.  Being very close to his family, Sherman decided to stay close to his family and community and further his education locally at Triton College and later Devry Institute.

Sherman loves sports and is an advid participant in a local community bowling league.
As a professional, Sherman has worn several hats with the United States Postal Service.  Having been a Manager since 1994 and traveling all over the United States, Sherman's current duties are to revamp operations and procedures at troubled postal offices.  When an office is not functioning to its expected standards, Sherman Jones is sent in to fix the problems.

He began his career in public service in 2007 when he was elected to serve on the Board of Trustees. His unwavering commitment is to serve the community by improving the quality of life for all Broadview residents and to establish and maintain partnerships with neighboring communities.

Jones was elected to serve as Broadview’s Mayor in 2009.
As Mayor of Broadview, Jones takes an active role in the day-to-day operations of the local government.
