Holiday
Garbage Pick-Up Schedule
When regularly
scheduled garbage pick-up days fall on a legal holiday,
garbage pick up is delayed one day. In other words, if your
regular pick up day is on Monday and it is a legal holiday,
your pick up will be moved until Tuesday. If your pick-up day
is Friday and it falls on a holiday, your pick-up day will be
moved until Monday.
Legal Holidays:
The legal holidays observed by the Village are: New Year’s
Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day
and Christmas Day.
For questions
regarding your pick up schedule, please call the Public Works
office at (708) 681-3602.
Leaf Pick Up
- Residential
All leaves must
be placed in paper bags. Leaves can no longer be
raked in a long pile on the parkway next to the curb, as was
previously allowed. Paper bags are available at the Village
Hall - the first 10 bags are free.
Please do not
rake leaves into the street as it creates a safety hazard for
children, residents, and vehicles, clogs sewers, and makes it
difficult for Village equipment to gather the leaves. Grass
clippings are not to be added to the leaves. If you have
any questions, please call the Village Hall.

Branch/Brush
Pick Up
Branch and brush
pick up is provided by the Public Works Department every
Monday, beginning on the first Monday in April through the
last Monday in October.
Pile branches
and brush neatly on the parkway, with the butt end of the
branches facing to curb. (Grass clippings, weeds or foreign
objects may not be included.)
Evergreen
Cuttings go into your yard waste bag to be picked up according
to the Yard Waste regulations and schedule detailed below.
Larger evergreen branches (two feet or more) may be piled
curbside. Place branches on parkway after 6 p.m. on the
evening prior to pick up.
Christmas
Trees
Place on the
parkway after the first two weeks in January. Public Works
will pickup Christmas trees only from the parkway, not from
the alleys. Pick up will be during the third week of January
only. No Christmas Wreaths will be picked up by Public
Works.
Yard Waste
Pick Up
Yard waste is
picked up weekly, the same day as your garbage pick up,
according to the garbage schedule detailed above. Yard waste
is picked up separately from your garbage, at a different time
of day. There is no alley pick up for yard waste. All yard
waste must be placed curbside by 6 p.m. on the day proceeding
your pick-up day.
Yard waste must
be placed in an authorized brown, biodegradable paper bag.
There is no limit to the number of bags picked up, but each
bag must be properly identified with a Yard Waste Sticker.
Yard Waste Stickers are available at the Village Office.
Plastic bags are not acceptable for yard waste and will not be
picked up.
Appliance
Pick Up
Discarded
appliances will be picked up on your regular garbage day
(refer to the schedule above) at no additional charge, with
prior notice. Appliances must be placed beside your regular
garbage, either curbside or in the alley. All doors must be
removed from all appliances for safety reasons.
You must notify
the Village waste hauler (Crown Disposal) one day prior to
your regular pick up to notify them of your need and your
address, at (708) 485-0900.
